Guest Room Staging
Staging a spare bedroom should usually be the straightforward task while preparing your house for selling. Nonetheless, don’t forget to check if everything is flawless.
The spare bedroom is usually only needed some days of the year, so there is a good chance that furniture and other items won’t be worn out. Yet, sunlight or humidity can naturally damage materials even when the room is unused, so don’t forget to look closely at it. Musty spells often happen when a room is unused so make sure fabrics such as bedding and carpets are aired.
The second room often gets used as a storage room and a haven for those items we may use ‘one day’. In fact, all this room should have is the basics, such as a bed, closet and bedside table. Another thing to be aware off, is don’t employ this room as an overflow for clothing that you removed from the main bedroom when you staged one. You will soon be caught out by visitors who will nosey through your rooms when they are viewing your house.
You could try an idea to see a difference between the bedrooms in the eyes of potential visitors. Try for example a little hotel-type fridge in the clothes, water jug and glasses, exclusive pen with notepad or a dish of fruit. This will show buyers that the room is indeed only utilized as a guest room.
Start off by staging this area like the other bedrooms. Make sure the space is aired and washed down and that the decorations are not overly gaudy and ‘in your face’. Issues in your staging will stick out to possible visitors, so make sure all rooms in your home are up to the same high standard. If you aren’t sure whether you are able to stage the bedroom to the standard you desire, hiring a professional home stager would be the answer.
